Mother-in-law and Boomerang Kid Unit
Are you looking to add a home for family members on your property? Are you looking to buy a place that could allow for multi-generational living in the future? Princeton’s municipal law allows any property in a single family zone to have an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). An ADU can be a great way to bring family members close.
- An ADU can be a part of an existing home, a new addition, or a freestanding building.
- An ADU can have up to 2 bedrooms and can vary in size from a tiny house to a spacious and comfortable home.
- There are plenty of complex rules controlling the ADUs, but our expert team can evaluate a property and assist in designing, permitting and building an ADU.
Purchasing a home is one of the most expensive decisions we make in our lives. If you think you may need a place for family members in your future home, it’s a good idea to do the due diligence before you buy. Great to know if it is possible to add an ADU, but it is even more important to know if it is not possible. You can get an evaluation report done for a property you are looking to purchase (expedited reports are available).
If you are ready to move forward with creating a home for a family member, we have standard models that are specifically designed with Princeton’s regulations in mind. Some of these have ground floor bedrooms and others are “elevator-ready”.
These can be pre-fabricated or built on site. We work hard to keep up with the rules, so you won’t have to.
