Aging-in-place
Are you concerned that your home is not ideal for aging with smaller bathrooms and no bedrooms on the ground floor? If you are looking for a comfortable place to age in place on your own property, Princeton’s municipal law now allows senior-friendly options to create an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). These can be a well-designed and safe place to age in place. There are even bonus areas allowed for wheelchair accessibility! Alternatively, an ADU can be a great way to house a caregiver or a family member nearby:
- An ADU can be a part of an existing home, a new addition or a freestanding building.
- An ADU can have up to 2 bedrooms and can vary in size from a tiny house to a spacious and comfortable home.
- There are plenty of complex rules controlling these ADUs, but our expert team can evaluate your property and assist in designing, permitting and building an ADU. Download our ADU brochure to learn more.
- We have standard models that are specifically designed with Princeton’s regulations in mind. Some of these have ground floor bedrooms and others are “elevator-ready”.
- These can be pre-fabricated or built on site. We work hard to keep up with the rules, so you won’t have to.
For our clients, aging-in-place should be as easy as 1,2,3

It is possible that one of our standard models meets your needs, but there are always custom options.
We will build the ADU for you and can assist with securing financing if needed.
